The Challenge

To prevent or predict project emergencies before they happen. We found project management applications to be failing because we only found out about project needs once alarm bells were ringing, so we set out to build an application that showed smaller trends.

Obtaining relevant project data starts with enabling key team members to report critical metrics quickly and easily. Moving from a tedious, spreadsheet-based process to a responsive mobile application only solves part of the problem. As we researched the needs of key stakeholders, we realized the common “Green-Yellow-Red” reporting standard failed to consistently reveal the project trajectory.

Further, project managers and other key team members were hesitant to change a status – their projects start at ‘green’ and could only get worse over time.

Historically, this spreadsheet was the source of truth for every project status. Our “delivery bible”.

As you can see, it’s gross and get’s the job done. Although it added value to the handful of execs who checked it daily, it came with a host of issues.
